About Me

I was introduced to dancing at the early age of 4 at the Broadway Dance Centre with the Principal Frances Dawson, at that time I also dabbled in gymnastics and Majorettes, however, by the age of 5-6 it was dancing that grabbed me, it became everything to me, all I wanted to do was dance, dance and dance!

I started doing Ballroom, Latin and Freestyle but at that early age Freestyle was my biggest love, it was fast and exciting.  It wasn’t long before Fran had me competing. We travelled all over the UK and in a period of several years I managed many finals and bagged a few championships.

Later on in my career Freestyle began to take a back seat and once again Ballroom and Latin was coming into play.  My first big break in this field was when I partnered James Loades.  We specialised in the Ballroom style and after a year of dancing together we won the U35 Pre championship at both Champions of Tomorrow and Stars of the Future.

James and several other partners came and went as I continued to try and climb this huge mountain of a successful career and just as I thought it was hopeless as finding the right boy partner was almost an impossibility, Richard Blachford came along – this at the time was the best thing ever.

Richard and I were lucky enough to train with many top coaches; we practiced hard and competed at both national and international level.  In the 3 years we were together we became regular UK amateur ballroom finalists and achieved top 6 in the EADA charts, My biggest and proudest time when all the hard work, tears and sweat paid off was when we managed to break into the Closed UK final at Bournemouth.

I decided once Rich and I split that I would hang up my competing dancing shoes and with a little persuasion from Fran put on my teaching shoes.  I can proudly say that I am back at the Broadway dance centre where it all started and where I feel at home, now fulfilling my lifetime dream teaching, believe me this stage of my career is the biggest challenge yet!!!

I do surprisingly have a life other than dancing and to fill you in on a little of it, I am a financial accountant / Company Secretary for a surveying firm which I do enjoy most of the time.  When I am not working or dancing, I love just having quiet time at home but I do also love to socialise with my friends, I love the theatre and I love eating out.  My all time favourite music is Queen and Michael Jackson and I love the hilariously funny comedy ‘Absolutely Fabulous’.
